Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris

Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace: he has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance. You’d like to get to know Grace better. But it’s difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are never apart. Some might call this true love.

Picture this: a dinner party at their perfect home, the conversation and wine flowing. They appear to be in their element while entertaining. And Grace’s friends are eager to reciprocate with lunch the following week. Grace wants to go, but knows she never will. Her friends call—so why doesn’t Grace ever answer the phone? And how can she cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim?

And why are there bars on one of the bedroom windows?

The perfect marriage? Or the perfect lie?

A chilling tale that will send ice through your veins.

If a man ever appears to be too good to be true then the chances are he probably is.  There is, however, a difference between not perfect and completely psychotic!

This is the first book I have read by B. A. Paris and I was really impressed.  The suspense is prevalent from the beginning and increases as the story progresses.  I liked the way the story switched from past to present until the two caught up with each other.  It kept up the intrigue and had me wondering what would happen next. There were some heart-thumping moments for Grace and I will admit that I had some of Jack’s plots guessed before they were revealed – it is at these times when I am telling the character (Grace in this case) to not be so stupid. They never seem to listen though.

Jack Angel is handsome, charming and wealthy and when he meets Grace he knows he has found the one.  Grace is sweet, caring and financially stable. She is loving towards her younger sister, who has Down Syndrome, and intends to look after her when their parents are unable – more like unwilling – too. Poor Grace is lured in by Jack’s enigmatic personality and charisma but when he shows his true nature she will do anything to protect those she loves.

An exciting, edge-of-the-seat book that makes me glad that I am not looking for a new husband!
