Review – Updated 07/05/18
Very enjoyable second book based on Gavin Kinncaid, who we met in Deadly Shadows. Gavin is an obs/gyn doctor who cares about each and every one of his patients. When he loses a pregnant young girl on his operating table he is thrown into the path of her social worker, Taylor Reese. Taylor takes to heart the loss of her charge. In the weeks that follow Gavin and Taylor spend more time together and become very close until a threat strikes Taylor and her son.
I liked the plot to this story although there were times when I thought, ‘come on, surely the police could do more’, but then where would the fun be in having a hero and heroine if the authorities took all the glory. Saying that though, we are introduced to a new character, Detective Gabe Morris, who springs up in a couple of the other books. It would be nice if he had his own story too, as yet I haven’t seen one.
Enjoyed listening to this via Audible. Narrated by Johanna Parker
Some bonds are love, and some bonds are deadly. . . .
Taylor Reese is done with men, except for her son, Ryan. Dr. Gavin Kinncaid realizes Ms. Reese is the only woman he’s ever wanted to strangle, but fate and passion soon twist their feelings into something other than antagonism, first into passion and then into love. But someone plots to rip this new happy family apart, spilling pain and death in their wake.
