Meant to Be – Anchor Island #1 by Terri Osburn

Beth Chandler is engaged to workaholic lawyer, Lucas Dempsey.  Two weeks into their engagement Beth finds herself scared and alone, gripping the steering wheel of her ca for dear life, as she tries to overcome her fear of boats whilst travelling to meet Lucas’ family on the small island of Anchor.  A chance meeting with an attractive, blue-eyed man and his dog helps get her through the journey but panic strikes in a different form when she finds out he is actually Lucas’ brother, Joe.

After only one night on the island, Lucas is called back to work and leaves Beth in the capable hands of his brother.  As the two spend more time together both Beth and Joe realise there is an attraction that neither can act on.  Will Beth marry a man she does not love just to make him happy or can she finally put her own feelings first?

Lovely story about the people of Anchor Island and one woman’s decision to finally make her life her own.  We meet some wonderful characters in this opening story: Sid, Joe’s female boat mechanic, Will, the jack of all trades worker who offers her help all over the island, and Lola LaBlanc, owner of the Arts and crafts shop.

If you are looking for a heart-warming story with slow paced living and idealic scenery then this is the book for you.  Don’t get me wrong there is still problems to overcome and ex-fiancée’s causing problems for the islanders but it is well written and a very enjoyable way to lose yourself for a few hours/days.
